Sauna Maintenance & Wood Care
To maintain your Samsora Steam Sauna in optimal condition for years, regular care is important. Follow these simple guidelines to ensure it functions efficiently and looks its best.
Regular Cleaning
-
Clean the interior surfaces every two weeks or after 5-10 uses.
-
Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe down benches, walls, and doors to remove moisture and prevent mineral buildup.
-
Ventilate the sauna for 15-30 minutes after each use to allow the interior to dry completely.
Note: All Sauna surface cleaning is not necessary due to the factory-applied protective coating.
Indoor Sauna Surface Care:
The sauna surfaces are coated with a water-based varnish that is sensitive to alcohol. Avoid cleaning products containing benzene or high concentrations of alcohol. Reapply varnish to any discolored areas as needed.
Outdoor Sauna Surface Care:
The sauna surfaces are treated with a protective layer of wood wax oil, a natural, eco-friendly finish made from plant oils and waxes. This coating nourishes the wood, reducing moisture-related swelling and shrinkage, and helps prevent warping and cracking.
However, the oils may absorb into the wood over time, causing the surface color to fade. Localized fading may occur 3-6 months after installation, influenced by climate and wood density. Areas with lower density may turn slightly white first as more oil is absorbed beneath the surface, leaving a thinner film. This does not reduce protection but can affect appearance.
Application Instructions:
-
Lightly sand the surface with ≥200-grit abrasive to improve adhesion.
-
Remove all dust and use a brush to avoid contaminating the glass.
-
For faded areas, apply a spot coat, then a full coat after 1 hour.
-
Allow the surface to cure for 24 hours before use, including exposure to rain.
Important Note:
For outdoor saunas, use open-pore breathable paints (e.g., wood wax oils) to maintain the wood’s natural breathing ability. In severe weather (e.g., strong winds), secure the glass door to prevent damage. Damage from uncontrollable factors is not covered under warranty.
